The CANDLES Holocaust Museum & Education Center focuses on the survivors of the Nazi Experiments that occurred during World War II. The name CANDLES is an acronym for "Children of Auschwitz Nazi Deadly Lab Experiments Survivors," and is dedicated to twins who survived the terrible medical experiments of Dr. Mengele. The museum arranges its programs around an agenda of awareness and forgiveness, planning annual trips to Auschwitz that are open to the public, and many other events and workshops. It sits downtown south of Fairbanks Park and north of Vorhees Park.
